Dimensional Management Engineer FAE- Responsible for driving 3-2-1 common locating strategies on exterior Orn and bolt on parts. You will also be documenting the assembly process and locators on all in-house, high capital items. You will also be driving measuring strategies on exterior orn and bolt on items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical preferred) or equivalent years' experience (10+ in Automotive Mfg environment)
  • Teamcenter/Vis Mock-up and NX experience is a must
  • GD&T experience is a must

Responsibilities

  • Delivers Locator Drawing (LD) files for each program on time per GPDS timing and to LD File Standards
  • Leads Dimensional Control Team meetings to establish meetings to establish locator and measuring points for commodities and vehicle programs
  • Ensures/Maintains alignment between LD Assembly Flow Diagrams (AFD's) and actual Manufacturing process inside and outside FMC.
  • Lead for Program LD File Change Control System (Web-Based Locator Revision Request – WLRR). Dispositions all within 10 business days.
  • Elevates any deviations from LD Standards to management for review and concurrence.
  • Reports the status for LD file delivery in program review meetings.
  • Educates Dimensional Control Teams about the various types of LD Files: Assembly Flow Diagrams (AFDs); Component and Assembly Coordinated Cut Plane Drawings (CCPs), LD tracking documents and all locator types and measurement point levels.
  • Attends DPA5 reviews, Structure reviews, Design review and any other meetings associated with our programs. Supports Virtual Build events.
  • Works directly with our Manufacturing Engineers and teams to drive sound/common locating strategies for all component parts and assemblies.
  • Works with tooling and part suppliers to define locators/measuring points for components and assemblies and within Final Assembly.
  • Drives standards globally for commodities, working with other regions for agreement. Develops generic locators and locating strategies for various commodities.
  • Schedules and leads locator meetings for commodities with all affected parties (Product Development, Craftsmanship, Manufacturing)
  • Educates program team members on the use of LD files, types of locators, how to find locators in drawings, how to read assembly flow diagrams, and how to access LD files.
  • Works with PD and Design and Release Engineers to add features to components and assemblies used for locating.
  • Develop a Hard Point LD file to hold locator positions for reusability.
  • Works with the Dimensional Variation Analysis team (DVA) to provide sensitivity studies on components and assemblies and develops locating strategies based on the data obtained from the DVA models.
  • Works with the Advanced Program Planning group and Product Development to develop the AFD.
  • Dispositions WLRRs for each assigned program/commodity.
  • Supports the program review meetings, including updating the glidepath.
  • Supports tool buy off at 50% and 100% design complete; 100% build complete (vendor floor).
  • Supports outside supplier stamping fixtures 50% and 100% sign off.
  • Supports outside supplier GEO tooling 50% and 100% sign off.
