About The Position

We are looking for a self-driven individual with GD&T experience (creating and interpreting) that can act as a resource for the Engineering teams within GM Defense. Your main responsibility will be the definition of GD&T criteria for vehicle components and sub-systems. You will also assist suppliers understand and utilize GD&T to set up part qualification systems as needed. Ensuring high quality designs will entail utilizing your knowledge of engineering tools and processes to assist the DRE's in their development of components and sub-systems. At this level you are expected to operate with a high level of independent discernment and are typically responsible for implementing functional strategy and broadcasting these strategies to the broader Engineering Team. As a fully-qualified individual contributor who has thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function, you will provide expert judgment and analysis on future products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ of experience working in an engineering discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of component and sub-system GD&T design/release
  • Knowledge of high and low build volume processes
  • GD&T knowledge as it pertains to developing part inspection criteria
  • GD&T understanding of how variation affects the manufacturability of mating components
  • Build process trouble shooting experience
  • Excellent collaboration skills with others within and outside of their direct organization
  • Ability to work professionally with suppliers and vendors directly
  • Demonstrated ability to solve design/manufacturing issues quickly as part of a multi-functional team.
  • Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.

  • Coach and lead suppliers to timely execution of program work with perfection.

  • This position requires experience in automotive component design and knowledge of various low-volume manufacturing processes.
  • Candidates for this position will need very little ramp up time and be able to contribute immediately to the program!
