About The Position

The Digitization Production Assistant role is designed to handle day-to-day and long-term asset management support for the operations team working in a shared storage environment. This role will help to manage what production material is stored and/or archived, while also working with various production teams to fulfill footage requests.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in a relevant TV Production or related field with equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum one (1) years of familiarity with use of Avid non-linear editing software and Avid Interplay Media asset management software.
  • Minimum one (1) years’ experience supporting Windows operating environment.
  • Minimum one (1) years of prior studio/remote sports production experience.
  • Strong sports knowledge and communication skills is a must.
  • Must be a highly motivated and determined individual who can work well independently.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior sports experience and/or prior experience working on large sporting events as a media coordinator or logger are a plus.
  • Ability to quickly understand and assess opportunities and/or problems and respond with creative ideas and solutions.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Demonstrated background in contributing to complex projects.
  • Experience with non-linear editing.
  • Self-starter.
  • Strong knowledge and interest in television production and storytelling; demonstrated appreciation for the Olympics.
  • Extremely well organized.
  • Experience with AVID or similar NLE.
  • Detail and deadline oriented.
  • Sharp eye for visuals and a fresh taste for music.

Responsibilities

  • Helping the NBC Sports Group with digitizing the videotape, disc and film archive.
  • Organize and enter metadata for videotapes, discs and film reels in the NBC Sports Group’s physical media tracking system.
  • Review all physical libraries to determine which assets should be digitized.
  • Prepare tapes to be sent out of house to be digitized.
  • Assist with the editing of metadata and trimming for new digital files.
  • Track physical media shipments coming back to the NBC Sports Group facility and prepare them to be sent out for long-term storage.
  • Support all of NBC’s production teams with footage searches, restores, EDLs, and screeners.
  • Ensure operationally that LTO/ODA assets are being updated as they move throughout the building as they’re critical to our operations.
