About The Position

On behalf of Department Of Business & Trade, we are looking for a Digital Technical Architect (Inside IR35) for a 12 Months contract based Hybrid / in DBT Hubs. As a Digital Technical Architect, your main responsibilities will be to lead the technical discovery of existing fDIST estate, documenting applications, infrastructure, Microsoft 365 tenants, power platform, Dataverse, frontline services, identity services, networks, integrations and service dependencies to create a clear baseline for MoG decision-making. You will develop and assess architectural options for the future state, including coexistence, service consolidation, shared services, cross-tenant collaboration and full migration approaches, providing evidence-based recommendations on cost, risk, complexity and deliverability. You will define potential service transition approaches, including lift-and-shift, replatforming, integration and rationalisation options, assessing the impact on users, services and operational support arrangements. You will work with security, delivery, data and business analysis colleagues to align assurance and governance processes, ensuring proposals are consistent with departmental, assurances, standards, NCSC Secure by Design principles, Technology Code of Practice requirements and programme approval gates. You will produce architecture artefacts and technical roadmaps for Alpha, including high-level designs, dependency maps, target-state architectures, migration assumptions, technical risks and proof-of-concept requirements needed to validate preferred options. You will provide technical leadership throughout Discovery and Alpha, reducing delivery risk, informing investment decisions and establishing a robust architectural foundation that enables the MoG programme to move into implementation with a clear, assured and achievable technical approach.

Requirements

  • Enterprise Architecture & Technology Estate Discovery across applications, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, identity, networks and service dependencies.
  • Target-State Architecture & Solution Design including consolidation, coexistence, shared services and migration strategies.
  • Microsoft 365, Power Platform & Dataverse Expertise with strong understanding of tenant architecture and enterprise integrations.
  • Service Transition & Migration Planning covering lift-and-shift, replatforming, rationalisation and operational readiness.
  • Technical Governance, Security & Assurance aligned to NCSC Secure by Design, Technology Code of Practice and architecture review processes.
  • Technical Discovery & Leadership delivering architecture roadmaps, dependency mapping, proof-of-concepts and implementation readiness assessments.
  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks.
  • This role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
