About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Digital Systems Engineer to fill a critical position on SAIC’s Prime Program in Chantilly, VA. SAIC supports a large SETA program supporting the NRO’s Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED), responsible for the acquisition of systems over the complete end-to-end life cycle. As a Digital Systems Engineer you will help identify and plan new capabilities to support mission operations. The Digital Systems Engineer should have expertise across the digital engineering spectrum including modeling, strategic planning, system integration and “system-of-systems" user-centric design. This role will be at the forefront in shaping the SPO's approach and roadmap for Digital Engineering and MBSE. The Digital Systems Engineer will serve as a trusted advisor for senior government clients through the end-to-end process of analyzing, devising, and implementing SPO's DE/MBSE approach.

Requirements

  • Expertise across the digital engineering spectrum including modeling, strategic planning, system integration and “system-of-systems" user-centric design.
  • Experience applying Digital Engineering concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Experience analyzing user needs, concept of operations, and high-level systems architectures to develop system requirements.
  • Experience identifying and communicating system engineering risks, issues, opportunities, assumptions, mitigations, and dependencies.
  • Experience providing technical support to government points of contact.
  • Experience initiating MBSE efforts and initiatives through communication and interfacing with engineers from various contractors and government organizations.
  • Experience developing assessments and briefings for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience applying common EA frameworks, particularly DoDAF and UAF.
  • Experience with common MBSE architecture tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership in applying Digital Engineering concepts, processes, and tools to help the government plan and define capabilities needed to better support mission operations (e.g., automation, situational awareness, etc.) both within the SPO's Program Office, as well as in conjunction with the Chief Architect's office to ensure that not only is the SPO aligned with GED's vision, but successfully communicating across government and SETA teams to influence said policy to be supportive of the SPO’s needs.
  • Analyzes user needs, concept of operations, and high-level systems architectures to develop system requirements. This includes working with individual SPO program COTRs to devise an appropriate and feasible implementation strategy for them—ranging from legacy systems to future visions.
  • Identifies and communicates system engineering risks, issues, opportunities, assumptions, mitigations, and dependencies
  • Provides technical support to government points of contact
  • Initiates a successful foundation for MBSE efforts and initiatives through effectively communication and interfacing with engineers from various contractors and government organizations
  • Develops assessments and briefings for a variety of audiences, conveying system engineering concepts and decision logic concisely and accurately
  • Applies one or more common EA frameworks, particularly DoDAF and UAF, as well as common MBSE architecture tools, in developing and communicating the EA.
