Expedition Technology•Herndon, VA
•Onsite

About The Position

Expedition Technology (EXP) in Herndon, VA, is seeking highly motivated software engineers with a digital signal processing (DSP) background to join their team. The role involves working across a small group of programs in support of the Intelligence Community (IC) and the US Department of War (DoW). The problems solved are challenging and stimulating, and the solutions created have an impact on National Security interests. EXP looks for team members who are intellectually curious, stimulated by researching and developing new and advanced techniques and technologies in DSP and machine learning, eager to investigate complex problems without obvious solutions, and thrive in highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team environments. Passion for working on meaningful programs that protect national and allied security is also valued.

Requirements

  • United States citizenship and an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • BA/BS in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience creating, developing, and implementing DSP solutions in support of IC and DoW needs in on premises, hybrid on-premises/cloud, and pure cloud processing platforms
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts, both internally and to external groups, including customers
  • Ability to rapidly develop prototype DSP and ML algorithm concepts and ideas, with an eye towards operationalization
  • Programming experience in SIGINT‑relevant DSP environments (e.g., X‑Midas, Python‑based DSP frameworks, real‑time processing pipelines)

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex signal processing solutions that support US intelligence and defense agencies
  • Research and develop advanced DSP and machine learning algorithms and techniques in application areas including radar, electronic warfare, SIGINT, and RF geo-location
  • Create DSP and machine learning models that process and understand signal data faster, more accurately, and more efficiently
  • Transition DSP and signal processing-based neural networks to field-ready, real-time software applications and systems
  • Take a full‑system, end‑to‑end mindset when designing solutions with consideration of signal collection, processing, software implementation, deployment, and operational integration
