About The Position

Syensqo is seeking a Digital Engineer to join the team deploying a new Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and process data platform at selected plants. These sites are implementing new digital tools to capture, contextualize, manage, and query manufacturing data, transforming raw process signals into reliable analytics to enhance plant performance. The role is situated at the intersection of operations, automation, and IT, with the responsibility of ensuring data trustworthiness for decision-making.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: data collection / historians, PLCs, HMIs, DCSs, software solutions, or electrical & instrumentation.
  • A practical, floor-facing mindset, comfortable working across control rooms, plant floors, and with scripting.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the hands-on rollout of the MES at the site, including initial deployment, configuration, testing, and go-live.
  • Helping shape and drive the plant's digital strategy, aligning the MES rollout with the site's broader manufacturing improvement objectives.
  • Serving as the site's Single Point of Contact for inquiries and issues related to process information/historian software (e.g., data historian, MES, and associated process data tools).
  • Coaching site data teams through manufacturing improvement projects to enable them to operate and expand the new tools independently after the rollout team's departure.
  • Collaborating with data scientists, process engineers, and automation & instrumentation specialists to refine tags, instrumentation, and data structures for optimal data capture and quality.
  • Training site personnel on the new software and providing both on-the-floor and remote support to their assigned site and other plants during their rollouts.
  • Writing scripts to ensure data quality, consistency, and format required for advanced analytics and models.
  • Defining and establishing data quality, availability, and consistency metrics, and managing the testing process to validate data before business use.
  • Actively contributing to the internal data community by sharing knowledge and best practices, such as technical articles on MES software and lessons learned from rollouts.
