About The Position

The Digital Print Operator operates wide format inkjet and laser systems and inkjet sheetfed printers with a high level of proficiency to meet quality and quantity goals according to customer specifications and standard operating procedures. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining department machinery, interpreting job specifications, and ensuring the finished product meets customer requirements. The operator is responsible for performing make-readies/setups, maintaining accurate documentation, performing daily maintenance for color accuracy, and identifying root causes of productivity or quality issues. They also ensure proper job assembly and print positioning, assist with equipment troubleshooting, manage material supply, and facilitate smooth shift transitions. Additionally, the role includes replacing ink drums, re-webbing presses, ensuring color consistency, partnering with supervisors for equipment repair, maintaining a safe work area, and cross-training on all equipment. A key aspect of the role is training newer team members to enhance team flexibility and skills.

Requirements

Determine proper registration through the use of templates and visual inspection.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize tasks.
Team player and ability to train others.
Highly technically inclined and ability to operate direct mail equipment.
Ability to use Maxwell workstation instrument, MICR workstation instrument and set up Coating and Perf unit.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Manufacturing/Production environment experience.
High Speed inserting experience required, preferably to include 4 color Read/Write (Condor).
1+ year of digital printing experience.
2+ years’ laser operator experience.
Ability to work consecutively 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations.
Ability to work overtime when needed.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.
Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.
Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching.
Pre-employment post-offer comprehensive assessment required.

Nice To Haves

Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred.
Additional experience in digital print, direct mail, and/or fulfillment industry helpful.
Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training a plus.

Responsibilities

Set-up, operate, and maintain department machinery.
Interpret job specs and component orientation: verify finished product meets customer specifications.
Perform basic and advanced Make Readies/setups.
Maintain accurate documentation and proper production reports.
Perform daily maintenance to ensure color accuracy.
Identify root causes that impact productivity and quality goals.
Ensure jobs are assembled properly; and maintain appropriate print position.
Assist Equipment Technicians with troubleshooting problems.
Load and unload forms; maintain adequate supply of materials at the machine.
Conduct smooth transition between shifts; gather pertinent data to avoid interruption to production.
Replace ink Drums.
Expertly re-web press as needed.
Ensure overall quality and color consistency.
Partner with Supervisor when equipment repair is necessary.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Ability to cross train on all equipment.
Train newer team members to advance their skills and enhance team flexibility.
Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.
