This role involves operating a Digital Press on the 2nd shift, from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, Monday through Thursday. Responsibilities include preparing jobs for printing, setting up and releasing jobs from the print queue, monitoring output quality, utilizing bindery equipment, and packaging jobs for shipping. The position also requires reviewing electronic files for completeness, identifying and communicating issues, and collaborating with customer service and production teams to resolve job-related problems. Preparing color proofs for customer review may also be part of the duties.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of digital file formats (pdf, tiff, eps) from different operating systems (Mac and PC) is required
  • Basic color management skills and the ability to work with different digital formats are required
  • Must have the ability to output digital files to various output devices; must have the ability to continue to learn and use new graphics software on an ongoing basis
  • Mechanical skills using small hand tools in order to make minor repairs, perform maintenance, and set up equipment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Review job instructions to prepare jobs for printing on a Digital Press.
  • Set up, program, and release jobs from the print queue.
  • Monitor the quality of job output for correctness and image quality.
  • Utilize bindery equipment to complete jobs (cutter, tabletop folder, creaser, shrink tunnel).
  • Package jobs and prepare for shipping.
  • Review electronic files that are received from clients and check them for thoroughness and completeness in advance of the plate making process
  • Identify missing or problematic components and communicate them to the Customer Service Reps, customer(s), and production personnel
  • Work directly with Customer Service Reps, customer(s), and production personnel as necessary to work out any problems with the job
  • May prepare color proofs for customer review.
