About The Position

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a digital printing press to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedure, safety and quality guidelines. This role involves understanding job ticket information, verifying specifications, obtaining necessary materials, and setting up the press according to guidelines. The operator will print proof sheets, maintain optimal production rates, color density, registration, and quality standards, making adjustments as needed. Troubleshooting and decision-making regarding product quality, completing quality inspections and paperwork, and collaborating with peers and other departments are key aspects. The role also includes maintaining the equipment and work area, understanding communication systems, and participating in lean manufacturing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a digital printing press according to instructions, procedures, and safety and quality guidelines.
  • Understand job ticket information, including quantity, special instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Verify job specifications such as size, color, paper type, and ink color.
  • Obtain necessary substrate and related supplies for the job.
  • Set up the press according to company guidelines, safety, and job requirements.
  • Print proof sheets to check press setup.
  • Print jobs while maintaining optimum production rate, color density, registration, and quality standards.
  • Make press adjustments as required to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain high efficiency according to established rates during equipment operation.
  • Troubleshoot and make decisions regarding the quality of the finished product.
  • Complete required quality inspections and paperwork.
  • Work with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance.
  • Maintain and clean assigned equipment and the surrounding area.
  • Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system, and job reporting requirements.
  • Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors.
