About The Position

Smartpress is a fast-growing online printing service that is disrupting the traditional printing industry. They are looking for an enthusiastic Press Operator to join their team. The role involves operating a new fleet of HP Indigo 12000 presses in a clean, fun, and demanding environment. The operator will review electronic customer files and layouts, ensure prepress operations are completed, and perform printing operations such as loading paper, removing finished products, and daily press maintenance. While printing experience is appreciated, it is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Pay close attention to details on every project
Basic computer skills, including Pace and Google
Self-motivated, a fast learner, and show initiative to seek out customer and corporate needs
Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage your own work
Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve moderate level problems independently, effectively and creatively
Complete projects accurately within deadlines, while meeting company quality standards

Experience operating small or large format press equipment, preferred.

Responsibilities

Review electronic customer files and layouts containing the necessary components from the TBG/Smartpress designer.
Ensure prepress operations have been completed with regard to checking the files prior to printing.
Load paper.
Remove finished products from the press.
Perform daily press maintenance.
Ensure that files and layouts contain the necessary components, and have been signed off by the designer and prepress operations to ensure quality file resolution.
Prepare and check files to assure that they are printable.
Ensure files are imposed and stepped up to maximize yield of specified substrate and print device.
Print files once all quality checks have been completed in accordance to the specifications on the job ticket.
Follow all TBG protocols and procedures according to Company standards.
Perform miscellaneous projects and tasks as requested by management.
Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
Admit when you make a mistake.
