  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial) or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in both central engineering and plant environments, including time on the plant floor around operating equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive paint manufacturing engineering or advanced manufacturing for coatings.
  • Deep expertise in robotic paint and sealer applications, including bell/airless systems, atomization parameters, and film build control.
  • Experience implementing digital twin or model-based manufacturing solutions in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with PLM/MES integration, data standards, and governing process documentation within Siemens Teamcenter or similar environments.
  • Experience leading virtual builds, virtual tryouts, or virtual commissioning for major capital projects.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching and training others on digital tools and new processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead digital paint process design and validation activities for new product launches and major equipment installations using Siemens NX, Teamcenter Line Designer/MPP, and Process Simulate.
  • Aid in dev and understand robot simulations, and virtual commissioning models to validate equipment capability, ergonomics, throughput, and maintainability before installation.
  • Program and validate robotic paint and sealer paths in the digital and Physical environment for appearance, material efficiency, and cycle time; support correlation between virtual and physical results.
  • Be a part of the team that will develop digital twins of paint application systems to support scenario analysis, change management, and continuous improvement.
  • Integrate process data, standards, and best practices into PLM environment to enable data-driven decision making and robust change control.
  • Collaborate with plant Paint Shop Process Specialists, Subject Matter experts and Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineers to translate digital designs into robust, sustainable production solutions.
  • Troubleshoot plant paint shop processes (PT/ED, sealing, primer, topcoat) using data analytics to identify root causes and validate corrective actions.
  • Serve as a technical lead and change agent for digital process methods, including training, coaching, and influencing cross-functional teams to adopt new tools and workflows.
  • Use the Tech Center Paint Lab and virtual models to develop and test robotic paths, validate application performance, and support pre-launch readiness.
  • Provide clear technical direction to suppliers, integrators, and plant personnel regarding digital deliverables, simulation criteria, and acceptance requirements.
  • Manage project timing, digital deliverables, and status reporting for leadership and program teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of paint processes, equipment reliability, and system capability through expanded use of digital tools and standardized methods.
