Service Description: Members in this program spend their service time supporting the growth and development of digital skills in the community to help bridge the Digital Divide. With technology becoming increasingly common in everyday life, more community members are being left behind, unable to complete basic digital tasks and skills. Digital Navigators will meet community members 1 on 1 for appointments or drop-ins at assigned sites to teach digital literacy skills, facilitate digital skills practice, or teach online learning skills; members may complete appointments virtually upon arrangement with Program and Site Staff. During service, Digital Navigators will assess community members on their digital skills by 1) observation of digital skills task completion, 2) assessments or skills inventories, 3) in conversation about learner’s digital skills goal. Members will accurately complete data collection paperwork for the program the day of an interaction with a learner OR log interactions daily either digitally or physically to complete paperwork at the end of the service week. Members answer questions about the program by phone/email/outreach events to inform the community about the importance of digital skills and will perform other digital literacy related tasks or attend Outreach events as assigned by Program Staff or Site Supervisor – members may be assigned tasks that align with their skillset or scheduling availability. Throughout the service year, members will support their learners’ digital skill goals.
