Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • At least one year of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of basic Microsoft applications.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, Bridge, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • More than three years of related experience.
  • Experience with audio and video production and editing
  • Experience with digitization processes and hardware.
  • Experience with metadata, controlled vocabularies, and/or object description.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, prepare, and perform digitization processes for creation of digital content that supports teaching, learning and research
  • Transcode, normalize, and enhance the quality of audio, video, and multimedia assets
  • Identify, describe, and codify digital and web-based information materials for inclusion in the University Libraries’ online digital resource collections, to support user discovery of digital content
  • Supervise student employees and perform quality reviews of their work
  • Maintain essential operations and provide oversight of Digital and Physical Processing in absence of the Digital and Physical Processing Supervisor
  • Compile statistics
  • Support a collaborative work environment and service culture in order to advance the strategic direction of the University Libraries
  • Analyze and prepare archival collection artifacts (photographs, text-based materials, maps, architectural drawings, audio, video, realia, or other) for preservation, including the creation of new file-naming schemas which are consistent with current archival collection identification coding
  • Digitize analog materials, normalize born-digital assets, and perform post-digitization processes for accessibility (e.g. optical character recognition, image and video enhancement, quality assurance, versioning, etc.)
  • Assist with additional digitization activities both on- or off- site as needed.
  • Organize and codify, content, including the creation of standards-based structural and administrative metadata verify digital collection structures, files, and project completeness in preparation for collection-building, long-term archiving and stewardship.
  • Assign and review work, orient and train student employee(s), and make recommendations as to interviewing and selection, performance appraisal, and discipline
  • Train, coordinate, and monitor special projects staff, including staff from other library units
  • Review and revise digital files and images created by staff and/or student assistants to provide quality assurance.
  • Upload assets to University Libraries’ content management systems and approved external environments (e.g. YouTube)
  • Review the quality of new or existing online assets and collections
  • Update, revise, or repair content and metadata as needed.
  • Compile and maintain accurate statistics on these operations
  • Provide regular reports on activities and progress of assigned projects.
  • Maintain essential operations and monitoring of students in Digital and Physical Processing in the absence of the Digital and Physical Processing Supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
