About The Position

The Fresh Air Fund is a youth development organization providing transformative outdoor experiences, at no cost, for New York City children from underserved communities. At six sleepaway camps in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley, children have new experiences, learn new skills, and gain new perspectives. Youth also participate in year-round leadership, career exploration, and educational programs. The Fresh Air Fund (The Fund) seeks an experienced, creative, and mission-driven Photo and Video Content Creator to join the Communications team as the Digital Media Coordinator. Position Summary The Digital Media Coordinator oversees The Fund’s content creation, photography, and video production. This role combines photography, videography, video editing, and written storytelling to create engaging content for The Fund's blog, website, social media, and marketing materials. The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller and skilled writer. The Digital Media Coordinator reports to the Communications Director, and works closely with colleagues on the Communications, Development and Program teams. This is a full-time position, based in our New York City office and currently requires three days in the office. The Fresh Air Fund offices are open and available all week, and all employees are permitted and encouraged to come to the office to work. The Fund may modify its remote work policy generally or with respect to any position at any time.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experienced photographer and videographer. Proficient in editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro)
  • Comfortable with outdoor photography and videography
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience with Canon mirrorless cameras and gimbal stabilizers
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to The Fund's camps in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley and program sites in NYC
  • Ability to work periodic evening and/or weekends
  • A commitment to The Fresh Air Fund’s mission.
  • Proof of vaccination or an approved exemption will be required as a condition of employment, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WordPress and InDesign is a plus
  • Experience in a youth development setting is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Capture high-quality, impactful, and authentic photos and videos at camp and school-year programs
  • Film interviews and b-roll of program activities
  • Create short and long-form video content aligned with The Fund's brand
  • Edit videos for social media, website, recruitment, and fundraising campaigns
  • Manage pre-production planning and on-site video production
  • Interview campers, parents/caregivers, staff, and alumni
  • Manage The Fund's CMS (Canto) and organize digital media assets
  • Supervise photography and videography summer staff and interns
  • Write SEO-optimized blog content and track metrics in Google Analytics
  • Collaborate on content strategy and editorial calendar to align content with The Fund's mission and priorities
  • Support Digital Marketing and Public Relations efforts, as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
