About The Position

The employee in this position will lead, develop and execute digital media production assignments requiring advanced level skills from original concept through final implementation with limited oversight. This employee will partner with internal and external clients including senior leaders and faculty regarding digital media projects and services. They will serve as an in-house digital media expert for a school/unit with time contribution split between project leadership and as a technical contributor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or motion graphics and effects software.
  • Knowledge in production techniques including videography, compression and file delivery and other production formats.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of professional quality productions, including field and studio camera, lighting, sound and editing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience, including high-level executives and faculty.
  • Ability to independently manage a variety of simultaneous projects within tight deadlines, excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and training others.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate digital media products and options and adapt to alternatives when appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Formulating and implementing social media strategies aligned with the district's goals and objectives, ensuring that the social media presence reflects the district's mission, values, and priorities.
  • Creating and curating high-quality content, including text, images, videos, and graphics, that engages various stakeholders (students, parents, staff, community members) and highlights the district's achievements, events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Managing and maintaining active profiles on various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube), optimizing each platform's features and audience demographics to effectively reach and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Monitoring social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and engaging with stakeholders in a timely and professional manner, fostering positive relationships and addressing concerns or inquiries.
  • Collaborating with school administrators, teachers, staff, and district leadership to gather information, coordinate content creation, and ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
  • Analyzing social media metrics and insights to evaluate the performance of content and campaigns, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions to optimize strategies and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance with district policies, guidelines, and legal regulations related to social media usage by staff and students, providing guidance and training as needed to promote responsible and ethical online behavior.
  • Staying informed about social media trends, tools, best practices, and emerging technologies through ongoing learning and professional development activities, and incorporating relevant knowledge into strategies and tactics.
  • Developing protocols and procedures for managing social media crises and emergencies, including misinformation, negative publicity, or other reputational risks, and implementing strategies to mitigate potential harm and maintain trust and credibility.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, including parents, community members, local media, and partner organizations, to foster collaboration, support, and advocacy for the district's goals and initiatives.
  • Providing training, resources, and support to staff and students on social media best practices, responsible use, privacy protection, digital citizenship, and related topics, promoting a culture of safety, respect, and integrity online.
  • Plans, researches, prepares and produces professional-quality digital media for instruction, promotional programs, location and studio programs, live video conferences and webcasts, live-on-tape studio, and/or other communicative purposes for both internal and external audiences.
  • Plays an active role in planning, advising and partnering with staff on strategic and creative projects requiring extensive subject matter knowledge within time and cost constraints.
  • Takes independent ownership of large, complex digital media projects.
  • Performs the full range of the digital media project cycle: initiating, planning, producing, refinement, delivery, and archiving.
  • Develops and markets digital services, and manages all aspects of capturing, recording, and transmitting of all digital media productions, video and/or images to internal and external clients.
  • Provides outreach within and across departments of effective applications of digital media.
  • Oversees the creation of original visual content and produces high impact visual storytelling.
  • Manages process from conception, to production, to completion across a diverse array of communications channels and media utilizing best practice standards that foster photographic and video excellence.
  • Consults with, and helps faculty and staff to incorporate digital media into research projects, presentations, course design and curricula in support of student learning or departmental communication goals.
  • Coordinates all aspects of capturing, recording, and transmitting of all digital media productions, video and/or images for internal and external clients.
  • May contribute to development of digital media goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and/or manage budget for area of responsibility.
  • May serve as internal project leader and provide guidance and training to other staff.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Communications & Public Information.
