About The Position

Allegion is seeking a visionary and highly technical Digital Manufacturing Solution Architect with specialized depth and breadth of expertise to design, standardize, and scale their manufacturing technology stack, including the strategic integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities. The immediate priority will be to partner with a key software vendor to deeply understand the architecture and create a robust product for manufacturing sites. This role serves as the technical authority within the Digital Manufacturing Team, interpreting internal and external business challenges and recommending best practices. By taking a broad perspective, the architect will teach internal teams how the platform works, identify innovative solutions, and guide deployments across manufacturing sites. The Digital Manufacturing Architect will bring advanced expertise in MES, Smart Factories, and Manufacturing 4.0 transformation. Working independently with guidance in only the most complex situations, this role will help lead scalable digital solutions that improve visibility, accelerate decision-making, and shape the future of manufacturing operations. Success requires a highly effective communicator who is comfortable engaging directly with end users, operators, engineers, and business leaders to translate operational challenges into scalable digital solutions. The ideal candidate brings equal strength in front-end user experience design and back-end development, ensuring solutions are intuitive, logical, efficient, maintainable, and scalable across multiple manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years in IT, working with or supporting a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Solution Architect and/or senior technical lead in MES/MOM, Smart Manufacturing, and/or Manufacturing 4.0 Solutions.
  • Demonstrated specialized depth and breadth of expertise in solutions implementation, system integration, and application support.
  • Ability to quickly learn new proprietary software and underlying technologies.
  • Proven ability to work independently, requiring guidance in only the most complex situations.
  • Experience extracting technical knowledge from vendors and transitioning support/implementation capabilities in-house.
  • Strong problem solving skills with root cause analysis capability and a strategic mindset that can see the big picture (enterprise scalability).
  • Ability to influence at all organizational levels and build cross functional relationships.
  • Ability to break down complex technical concepts and teach them to technical and semi-technical audiences.
  • Upbeat, energetic personality who excels in collaboration and teamwork.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available).

Responsibilities

  • Design and own the end-to-end technical architecture for digital manufacturing solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT standards and business objectives.
  • Solve complex manufacturing challenges by taking a broad perspective to identify and implement innovative digital solutions, leveraging AI/ML for predictive analytics, process optimization, and intelligent automation.
  • Develop scalable application architecture using reusable templates, modular design, naming standards, maintainable development practices, and long-term supportability principles.
  • Lead project teams, technical design reviews, and guide internal engineers, developers, and IT leads through subsequent site implementations.
  • Ensure seamless integration of Digital Manufacturing Solutions with existing enterprise systems (ERP, PLM, SCADA, QMS, etc.) to create unified, high-quality data ecosystems required to feed and train machine learning models.
  • Interpret internal and external business challenges, partnering with plant leadership, operations, and the broader Digital Manufacturing Team to recommend best practices, standardize processes, identify high-ROI AI/ML use cases (predictive maintenance, machine vision, etc.), and implement digital solutions across multiple sites.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing IT landscapes at various sites and map out transition architectures to the new Digital Manufacturing Solutions.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with third-party software vendors during the initial implementation phases.
  • Translate complex vendor documentation and platform mechanics into clear, digestible internal training materials and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Act as a technical mentor and coach for the Digital Manufacturing Team, sharing specialized functional knowledge.
  • Stay up to date on Industry 4.0 trends, IoT, and smart manufacturing technologies to continuously evolve the internal tech stack.
