About The Position

The Tech Squad Digital Literacy Program provides technology training and digital inclusion services that help community members build confidence using computers, mobile devices, and online resources. Participants include older adults and other underserved community members seeking to improve digital skills for communication, healthcare access, employment, education, financial management, and everyday life. The program serves individuals from diverse backgrounds, including older adults, people transitioning from homelessness, and individuals with behavioral health or substance use recovery needs. Training is delivered in a supportive, and respectful environment that promotes digital access, independence, and lifelong learning. The Digital Literacy Trainer delivers engaging, participant-centered technology instruction through individual coaching and group workshops. The trainer adapts instruction to meet varying skill levels, learning styles, language needs, and accessibility needs while fostering an inclusive and welcoming learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching or training older adults in technology, education, workforce, or community settings.
  • Experience developing or adapting curriculum, lesson plans, workshops, or other learning materials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technology to non-technical older adults in a clear, patient, and encouraging way.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and creating an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
  • Ability to facilitate both group training and one-on-one instruction, and work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual/biliterate in English and Chinese is highly desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deliver digital literacy curriculum, workshops, and one-on-one technology assistance for participants with varying levels of digital experience.
  • Design, update, and maintain instructional materials, lesson plans, presentations, handouts, and other training resources to support participant learning.
  • Deliver training to multilingual participants and collaborate with interpreters or bilingual staff when needed for participants in community centers, senior centers, libraries, and senior living buildings.
  • Support participants in developing practical technology skills using computers, smartphones, tablets, and online applications.
  • Communicate and interact with learners, providing translation of program materials.
  • Adapt instructional approaches to effectively engage participants with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences, including older adults and individuals who may be transitioning from homelessness or participating in behavioral health or recovery services.
  • Collaborate with program staff and community partners to coordinate services and support participant success.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, participant progress, and program documentation.
  • Promote digital inclusion by encouraging confidence, independence, and safe use of technology.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
