About The Position

Marion Cross School is seeking a 0.8 FTE Digital Learning Specialist to begin in August 2026. This role is for a collaborative, flexible educator interested in integrating technology to enhance student learning and support staff. The specialist will foster strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, and is committed to data-informed instruction through effective digital tool usage. Marion Cross School, a Pre-K–6 school in Norwich, Vermont, values outdoor education, critical thinking, and community. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified in NH as a Digital Learning Specialist (0350) for our NH schools or VT Teacher License with Educational Technology Endorsement for our VT school.

  • Ability to accurately and expeditiously type correspondence, reports, and memoranda according to standard business practices.

  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement digitally-based learning experiences with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments.
  • Model and promote the use of adaptive and assistive technologies and other digital tools and resources to personalize and differentiate activities for all learners.
  • Collaborate with other educators to help design and implement the student digital portfolio processes and procedures.
  • Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding.
  • Use knowledge of digital tools to model, promote, and facilitate experiences that advance learner competency, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
  • Collaborate with other educators to promote innovative and creative thinking using digital tools to engage learners in real-world problem solving.
  • Collaborate with other educators to model, design, and implement technology-enhanced learning experiences addressing both technology and content standards.
  • Illustrate how state and national standards are implemented within the curriculum.
  • Develop and carry out a personal professional development plan.
  • Model and promote safe, ethical, and legal practices related to digital tools and resources.
  • Model and promote digital etiquette, awareness of digital identity and privacy, and responsible social interactions related to the use of digital tools and resources.
  • Model and promote diversity, cultural understanding, and global awareness using digital communication and collaborative tools and resources to interact locally and globally.
  • Model and promote effective management and use of digital tools and resources to support technology-rich learning environments.
  • Evaluate, adapt, and reflect on digital tools, resources, and emerging trends by participating in local and global learning communities and by reviewing current research and evidence-based innovative practices.
  • Promote the role of digital media literacies to equip learners to succeed in a globally interconnected, multicultural world.
  • Promote and participate in the development and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive integration of technology to support learning opportunities for all learners and educators.
  • Promote and participate in the planning, development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of technology-infused strategic plans and adoption of new digital resources and tools at the district and school levels.
  • Promote and participate in implementing strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and managing the change process in schools and classrooms.
  • Work on special projects, including software implementation, systems integration, and limited application development.
  • Administer user, machine, and e-mail accounts for the building in their sphere of responsibility.
  • In coordination with the district Director of Educational Technology, supervise and maintain instructional networks and other systems as they come online.
  • In coordination with the Director of Educational Technology, supervise and maintain access to administrative networks, the student records system, the financial system, and other systems as they come online.
  • In coordination with the district’s Director of Educational Technology, provide training to staff on various computer hardware and software.
  • Assist teachers with Internet access; facilitate other telecommunications access through network devices such as district VoIP telephone system, assessment and evaluation systems, and parent communications systems.
  • Forecast the levels of use that the building IT systems will experience and create recommendations to reflect those predictions.
  • Coordinate and assess educational and technical needs with building administration and department chairs.
  • Comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building/department rules, procedures, practices, and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
