Digital IC Design Engineer

Texas InstrumentsDallas, TX

About The Position

Digital designers bring silicon to life. In this role you will define, develop, and refine the digital heart of our power management devices—translating system intent into micro-architecture, RTL, and ultimately production-ready hardware. You will partner closely with system, analog, verification, and product engineering teams to align on the approach and parameters for each device, own block-level specifications, and carry designs through concept, implementation, and validation into mass production. Along the way you will analyze data and prove out methods that meet demanding performance, quality, and reliability targets. If you are looking to join an ingenious, ambitious, and collaborative team that consistently delivers groundbreaking technology into the world of custom power, this is your opportunity. Our PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuits) group designs the power backbone for the most demanding applications in the industry. We deliver PMIC products for automotive Infotainment, Autonomous Driving, EDS, and Zonal Control systems, and we design high-performance power chips for microprocessors and DDR memories. Our portfolio spans both non–functional-safety parts and automotive functional-safety-compliant designs built to Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) standards—so you will gain exposure across the full spectrum of design rigor. This is a place where innovative thinking and automation are not just welcomed—they are expected. We actively encourage engineers to modernize how digital design gets done, including a high aptitude for learning, developing, and integrating modern AI flows into our design methodologies. Proficiency in scripting and with AI tools such as Claude is a plus, and can be developed on the job for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant digital design experience.
  • A thorough understanding of digital logic design.
  • Experience with the full digital flow, RTL to GDSII.
  • Familiarity with Verilog and digital simulators.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience developing digital for integrated power products.
  • High aptitude for learning, developing, and integrating modern AI flows into digital design methodologies.
  • Strong scripting skills and a drive to automate, where experience with AI tools such as Claude is a plus that can be developed on the job.
  • Thorough understanding and hands-on experience with digital interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and SPMI.
  • Experience with asynchronous digital circuits and state machines.
  • Experience with SystemVerilog, including its associated design verification (DV) aspects such as UVM, testbench development, assertions, and functional coverage.
  • Exposure to functional safety design and ASIL-compliant methodologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Initiative, ownership, and a consistent drive for results.
  • Strong time-management skills that enable on-time project delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate with, and provide leadership to, cross-functional teams.
  • A demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships and thrive in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with system and analog design to define digital micro-architecture specifications and implement the RTL that realizes them.
  • Drive the full digital flow from RTL to physical layout (RTL-to-GDSII), applying and advancing industry best practices, and guide fellow team members through it.
  • Partner with Design Verification, Validation, Product Engineering, and Test Engineering to ensure a smooth, first-pass transfer to production.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to understand design requirements, solve problems, and lead technical discussions.
  • Champion automation and AI-assisted flows that raise the efficiency, quality, and repeatability of our methodology.
  • Explore opportunities to integrate ARM cores into our digital designs and help evolve custom PMIC microcontroller architectures over time.

Benefits

  • Growth without a ceiling.
  • Strong team spirit and genuine collaboration are core to how we work, and they create the room for everyone to build new skills.
  • From AI-driven design flows to integrating ARM cores and evolving custom PMIC microcontroller architectures, you'll grow into embedded and microcontroller design while having the freedom to try new approaches and see them ship.
