Responsible technical work identifying, recovering, and preserving digital evidence related to investigations. This position is part of the Civil Service Basic Union Contract represented by Council 5 of AFSCME. St. Louis County does not participate in E-Verify. All employees must be continuously authorized to work in the United States , for St. Louis County, on a full-time basis. St. Louis County does not provide sponsorship for employment visas. An employee in this class is responsible for identifying and extracting data from digital devices in support of investigations performed by law enforcement staff. Duties include identification, extraction and recovery of digital evidence from a variety of electronic devices and disseminating data to appropriate staff conducting criminal investigations in the Sheriff’s Office. This position participates in an evidentiary chain of custody process and may testify in court as to the process’ integrity. Data and digital evidence extracted from electronic devices is critical to criminal investigations and involves sensitive subject matter. This work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.
