About The Position

The Digital Finishing Operator sets up and operates commercial label inspector machines, including performing visual quality control. The role operates equipment to slit continuous lengths of printed material into strips of specified width. The operator inspects and packages products, performs preventive machine maintenance, and completes job paperwork and shipment packaging.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to perform arithmetic operations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.
• Regularly stand and frequently walk while performing job duties.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without mechanical assistance.
• Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the printing or packaging industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive job assignments from the Press Supervisor or Team Lead; read job specifications and select the correct dies, cores, and rewind method.
• Review job jackets to ensure finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed.
• Inspect products for quality integrity and package them.
• Monitor material flow through the machine to detect irregular cutting and winding.
• Ensure work quality, including color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items for shipment.
• Assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging converting jobs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines.
• Remove or replace blades on inspection machines.
• Complete paperwork for each job and package finished goods for shipment to the customer.
