About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking an Engineering Manager to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. The ideal candidate will be someone who can lead a team of 5-7 engineers toward meeting a set of objectives, demonstrate the behaviors to effectively communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and work in a visible and proactive manner across organizational boundaries to deliver positive results. This role is fit for someone who can be a highly engaging, team-oriented, problem solving, and self-starting individual able to respond rapidly to a dynamic programmatic environment. This position is responsible for providing leadership within a systems engineering team that specifically focuses on overseeing the implementation and application of Digital Engineering (DE) methodologies throughout the design and development lifecycle of complex systems, utilizing digital models to manage system requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation processes across the project lifecycle. The DE Manager will be responsible for the execution of tasking to support the Digital Engineering Working Group. As the Engineering Manager for the Digital Engineering team, your responsibilities span engineering management, personnel management, and customer relationship management including: Engineering Management Manage execution of engineering capabilities (people, process, tools) and work products (deliverables) in the areas of systems integration policy and process definition. Ensure the timely development of products to support issuance of contract deliverables. Support System Engineering activities across the engineering lifecycle, for a complex systems-of-systems, including the mapping of requirements to system attributes, interfaces, and developing guidelines to support simulation activities. Support the Requirements, Architecture, and Modeling & Simulation team in the execution of a digital thread to ensure the entire system is well specified to execute the intended mission(s). Attending meetings, as necessary, to support tasks above. Some meeting may occur offsite, requiring local travel to Washington, DC or subsystem development/testing facilities. Personnel Management Functional management over a 5–7-person team to include performance and development objective setting, conduct of semi-annual performance reviews, personnel development and training, annual salary planning, and hiring/onboarding of new personnel. Assemble, lead, and manage high-performance team focused on delivering engineering products and developing innovative solutions to complex mission and business challenges. Customer Relationship Management Establish and maintain exceptional relationships with GS-14 level US Navy customers/clients to solve technical problems and implement solutions of high complexity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with broad array of engineering tools / languages including No Magic Products, PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, SysML, JAVA, and/or MATLAB Simulink.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering experience including implementation of Cameo/SysML and DOORS/DXL
  • Experience spanning the SE Lifecycle with an emphasis on integration, verification, and validation.
  • Demonstrated Self-Starter
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse work teams
  • Demonstrated supervisor/manager experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Office and the Strategic Weapon Systems
  • Experience utilizing model data support to enable the creation of a digital thread across other engineering disciplines (e.g., cyber and safety).
  • In-Depth Experience working with modeling tools
