Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Digital Delivery Lead to join our Transmission Business Class. This role reports directly to the Global Transmission Business Class Leader. The ideal candidate will champion process improvement by implementing industry-leading technologies and dynamic workflows to support our digital delivery on electric Transmission projects. You will bring a strong engineering technologist mindset, with the ability to conceptualize and develop custom tools, automations, and AI integrations to elevate our engineering and design work product and efficiency. The position also plays a key leadership role in aligning Transmission design practices with HDR’s Digital Design Community (DDC) - HDR’s centralized platform for digital design tools, workflows, standards, and support resources - while ensuring practical, scalable solutions are delivered to project teams.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 5 years digital delivery (model management) experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems
  • Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools
  • Advanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Familiar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications
  • Familiar with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies
  • Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications
  • Familiar with content creation and management concepts
  • Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and leadership traits are essential
  • Must have strong organizational skills to establish priorities between technical support requests and project work
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and an excellent work ethic

Nice To Haves

  • Specific hands-on experience utilizing and managing PLS-CADD.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk and Bentley verticals such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autodesk Revit, Bentley OpenRoads.
  • Familiarity with collaboration platforms like Autodesk Forma and Bentley Infrastructure Cloud.
  • Familiarity with digital twin platforms such as Autodesk Tandem and Bentley iTwin.
  • Familiarity in model clash detection techniques.
  • Proven track record of developing engineering automations or leading the integration of low-code/no-code platforms into production workflows.
  • Strong background developing custom applications and workflows within Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Strong interest and working familiarity with emerging AI tool implementations.
  • Active participation in ongoing technical working groups, both internally at HDR and externally within the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Transmission representative within HDR’s Digital Design Community, contributing to cross-business group collaboration on tools, workflows, standards, and best practices.
  • Identify, develop, and scale initiatives focused on process improvement, integrating cutting-edge technologies, and establishing dynamic workflows for digital design and project delivery.
  • Lead and support the effective use of design tools and efficiencies, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related production software used within Transmission projects.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and develop bespoke tools, scripts, and automations to streamline engineering and design tasks.
  • Explore, evaluate, and integrate AI tools and applications, such as Microsoft Power Apps and AI Agents, to enhance daily operations and business class efficiency.
  • Serve as a Product Owner for PLS-CADD software. This includes the management of PLS-CADD licenses, understanding user capabilities, tracking software usage, conducting comprehensive cost analyses, and developing strategic road-maps for future software enhancements and trainings.
  • Support broader digital integration efforts by utilizing intelligent model-based platforms, such as Bentley iTwin or comparable digital design software, to ensure seamless multidisciplinary collaboration.
