The Digital Content Specialist develops engaging written content that supports the Blanton Museum of Art’s exhibitions, programs, and strategic goals. This position is responsible for crafting high-quality copy across multiple channels—including email campaigns, blog posts, social media, ads, and print materials—while ensuring consistent voice, clarity, and alignment with the museum’s brand. The role also contributes to creative projects by assisting with exhibition titles, taglines, and marketing messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in copywriting, content creation, or digital marketing.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, editing, and proofreading skills with high attention to detail.
  • Experience in email, social media, and website marketing using a variety of digital platforms.
  • Ability to adapt writing for multiple platforms and audiences.
  • Familiarity with digital content best practices.
  • Work samples are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in museums, cultural institutions, nonprofits, or higher education.
  • High degree of proficiency with digital tools and platforms.
  • Google Analytics certification.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and optimize email campaigns to drive engagement, ticket sales, membership growth, and donor support.
  • Draft social media content for Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, and LinkedIn to expand reach and build engagement.
  • Maintain and update website content, including exhibition pages, program listings, news updates, and donor/member information.
  • Produce blog posts highlighting exhibitions, artists, programs, and behind-the-scenes stories.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics across email, web, and social channels; use data insights to refine messaging.
  • Assist with A/B testing for subject lines, ad copy, and messaging to improve effectiveness.
  • Provide copywriting support for advertising campaigns (digital, print, radio, outdoor) and other materials, as needed.
  • Maintain consistency of tone, voice, and brand messaging across all platforms.
  • Support museum visibility by assisting with copywriting and content needs for events, community programs, and cross-institutional projects.
  • Assist with staffing on-site and off-site museum and community events and programs.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
