About The Position

Netchannels Marketing is seeking an experienced and skilled individual to maintain and further develop the digital presence of the DEA’s law enforcement, regulatory and outreach activities and increases the public’s awareness about the dangers of illegal drug use. The Digital Content Specialist’s primary responsibilities are to establish and implement the Drug Enforcement Administration’s communications goals to include Public, Congressional and internal audiences via social media and web strategies in support of the DEA mission, policies, and goals. This individual shall produce, coordinate and distribute content through DEA social media accounts and websites. As well as participate in the creation of DEA’s strategic communication plan and develop a comprehensive social media/web campaign that complements ongoing communications campaigns and agency-wide goals while also increasing DEA’s digital presence across the internet.

  • Research: Ability to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing world of social and digital media
  • Research: Ability to research trending DEA topics (emerging drug trends, drug scheduling, initiatives, etc.) and other Federal government topics
  • Research: Ability to create web content that supports writing/graphics/reporting content for major public events (like DEA’s Red Ribbon Week or DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative) and for the DEA.gov and other related public-facing websites.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to the changing requests for posts and web content
  • Flexibility: Ability to try out new features and change things up based on new trends and analytics
  • Experience incorporating SEO into a social media strategy to attract a larger audience, while driving traffic to DEA’s websites.
  • Knowledge and experience in advertising and boosting posts through X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud application
  • Experience using social media and web content management tools such as Hootsuite, Drupal, Asana

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and produce content (web, blog, social media) that translates DEA initiatives and data into lay-friendly language.
  • Coordinate with the Social Media Specialist(s) in managing official social media platforms, to include creating graphics, videos, and monitoring analytics to drive engagement.
  • Coordinate with the DEA Web Content Manager on the maintenance, update, and improvement of website content, often using CMS tools.
  • Track key performance metrics, analyze user engagement, and provide insights for future content strategies.
  • Coordinate with DEA divisions/offices to develop content, campaigns, web stories, news bulletins, and info/outreach materials.
  • Establish and implement the Drug Enforcement Administration’s communications goals to include Public, Congressional and internal audiences via social media and web strategies in support of the DEA mission, policies, and goals.
  • Produce, coordinate and distribute content through DEA social media accounts and websites.
  • Participate in the creation of DEA’s strategic communication plan.
  • Develop a comprehensive social media/web campaign that complements ongoing communications campaigns and agency-wide goals while also increasing DEA’s digital presence across the internet.
  • Develop individual creative, interesting digital content for social media and web that appeals to DEA’s national/international audiences - content that builds interest/impressions/likes, page views, visits etc. on social media platforms and websites.
  • Edit social media and web content created by others.
  • Train others on the basics of using social media and website content management systems (CMS) such as Hootsuite (social) and Drupal (website).
  • Create and maintain a social media calendar, which will include the workflow and the scheduling of social media postings using tools such as Sprout Social.
  • Produce reports of social media and web activity for senior leadership from CMS programs, such as Hootsuite for social and Siteimprove for web.
  • Create and edit .gifs and short video for deployment on social media and/or the web.
  • Develop professional looking still images/graphics/charts to illustrate social messages and/or web content.
  • Use photo and video editing tools/software to create/manipulate photos and video clips for use on social media and web (such as Canva, Photoshop and Adobe Premiere).
  • Incorporate Adobe Stock images and other graphic asset resources, including emojis, vectors, icons, etc., into social media posts and web pages.
  • Conduct and/or manage live streaming events such as press conferences, speeches, and community outreach events.
