About The Position

The Sport Digital Community & Content Coordinator supports Ontario Tech’s Athletics digital engagement strategy, with a primary focus on growing and protecting the Ridgebacks brand. The Coordinator is responsible for planning, publishing and monitoring social and digital media content that fosters community engagement, supports promotional campaigns and reflects Athletics’ tone and standards. This position blends traditional sport information functions with modern digital media, including live coverage, analytics, multimedia content creation, and applied digital strategy, and serves as a key operational partner in executing Athletics’ broader communications and marketing objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Strong skills in writing, editing, and content creation for digital audiences
  • Proficiency in Canva, CapCut, and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (AODA), inclusive digital practices, and analytics dashboards
  • 1-3 years of experience managing branded/institutional social media

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and publishes content across Athletics’ social media channels in alignment with departmental priorities and content plans
  • Monitors comments, messages, and engagement, providing timely and professional responses, escalating reputational or sensitive issues to management
  • Provides live and event-based digital coverage, including set up, live stat entry and postgame reports
  • Creates and posts game recaps, athlete features and media releases
  • Creates photos, graphics, and short-form videos for Ridgeback Brand
  • Develops stories for newsletters, blogs, and other audiences to align with Athletics priorities, recruitment cycles and signature events
  • Contributes to the development and annual content calendars and campaign plans
  • Supports development of major content initiatives and proposals, providing research, creative concepts and execution plans
  • Tracks posts, campaign performance and game-day promotions using various platform analytics and reporting tools
  • Analyzes engagement, reach, and audience behaviour, summarizing insights and trends for Athletics leadership
  • Recommends tactical improvements and content optimizations based on performance data
  • Contributes analytics insights to planning discussions, post-campaign reviews, and future strategy development
  • Collaborates with Communications and Marketing, Advancement, varsity coaches, and internal and external partners to support integrated campaigns and initiatives
  • Reviews and guides sport-specific team contributions to external-facing channels to ensure quality, consistency, and brand alignment
  • Contributes to the development of workflows, templates, and best practices that improve digital consistency and operational efficiency
