About The Position

Promotes and publicizes institutional activities and programs. May write brochures and articles for publication. Prepares and disseminates information to the internal college and university community as well as to local and state media. Digital Communications Specialist Frostburg State University (FSU), Marketing and Communications, is accepting applications for a full-time, exempt Digital Communications Specialist. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position includes the robust University System of Maryland benefits package, which is comprised of annual, personal, and sick leave, holidays, tuition remission, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement plans. Responsibilities: This position is twofold. First, this position is responsible for assisting with marketing efforts by writing digital content using best practices for online media, as well as producing social media, photography, videography, and other digital communications. Second, the position is responsible for general design and development of digital media to meet the needs of the University using a variety of techniques and tools to conduct user research, determine the information architecture, provide content strategy and bringing content to various digital platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 4-6 years of experience in the following areas: Copywriting for SEO.
  • Excellent communicator, especially in written communications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing strategies
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to apply consultative skills to assess and evaluate user needs to develop written content and communicate solutions.
  • Basic experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with digital photography, including image capture, editing, and optimization for digital environments
  • Ability to support users and assist them in the use of web tools and technologies
  • Familiarity with the concept of responsive design and experience designing mobile platforms, including tablets and smartphones
  • Experience with visual communication principles
  • Monitor social media channels, managing issues/crises as necessary
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Strong skills in agility, along with the ability to pivot easily when directions and priorities change on short notice
  • Perform and multitask under strong demands in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, or SEO preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in Adobe Creative Suite (with emphasis in Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design tools) is highly preferred.
