About The Position

Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) Department of Communications and Broadcast Services is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Communications Advisor to support the development and delivery of clear, engaging, and strategically aligned digital communications. This role will focus on translating district messaging into effective digital formats, including newsletters, email communications, presentations, campaigns, and web content, while ensuring information is organized, visually engaging, and accessible to employees and stakeholders. The Digital Communications Advisor will play an important role in strengthening how the district shares information across internal and external platforms. This includes supporting digital communications tools, improving the structure and presentation of content, and helping maintain a consistent visual and editorial standard across district messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field plus four (4) years of related experience in digital communications, content development, or a related role for a total education/experience of eight (8) years.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
  • Degree Equivalency Formula: Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience. Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce digital communications including newsletters, email campaigns, announcements, one-pagers, and internal updates.
  • Translate written content into clear, well-structured layouts that improve readability and engagement.
  • Ensure communications follow MSCS brand standards and maintain visual and editorial consistency.
  • Support in building email communications using platforms such as Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar tools.
  • Design and maintain newsletter templates that improve user experience and engagement.
  • Organize and format content submissions from departments into effective and reader-friendly communications.
  • Create presentations and digital materials supporting district initiatives, leadership communications, and community engagement efforts.
  • Develop graphics and visual assets to support communications campaigns and announcements
  • Assist with formatting, publishing, and updating content for the district website and digital platforms.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the district’s employee intranet to ensure information is organized and easy to navigate.
  • Ensure digital content meets accessibility standards and follows best practices for usability and layout.
  • Work closely with communications team members and cross-functional departments to support district communications initiatives.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Support the coordination and organization of digital communications across platforms.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
