About The Position

The Raytheon Industry 4.0 – Connected Factory Intelligence & Automation organization has an immediate opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and innovative Automation Systems Engineer (ASE) to support digital automation infrastructure in our Microelectronics factory in Andover, MA. The Automation Systems Engineering department is responsible for the development and deployment of manufacturing automation & digital solutions to maximize the operational efficiency of our factory and program customers. The core responsibilities of this role are the support and improvement of automation software and infrastructure that supports factory operations – sensors, machine integration, custom software applications, commercial software platforms.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience in software development using a combination of tools such as Ignition, SQL, Python, C#, LabVIEW .NET, HTML5.
  • Experience diagnosing hardware and network-related issues effectively.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Azure DevOps (or any other DevOps platform)
  • Proficiency in using version control systems like Git
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus/TCP, MQTT, Ethernet IP, RESTful APIs, SECS/GEM, etc.
  • Understanding of automation systems (robots, vision systems, PLCs, etc.) deployment and integration
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across functions to support Operations Technology needs, including microelectronic assembly equipment (Palomar pick‑and‑place systems, ovens, etc.), robotics equipment connectivity (Fanuc), software tools (FabGuard), application enhancements, data migration, and software dependencies.
  • Sustain and enhance custom applications (built on Ignition platform) and commercial software applications.
  • Data extraction and processing to produce meaningful visualizations and metrics for microelectronic assembly equipment.
  • Contribute to the overall manufacturing technology strategy for the factory.
