About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director, Research Library, Archives & Collections Information, the Intern will participate in efforts in support of a grant-funded digitization project to produce, manage and preserve digital surrogates of archival materials from the first 60 years of DIA history, 1885-1945. As an established and respected organization, the DIA is an excellent place for interns to explore interests in museums and non-profits. Beyond learning about the art collections, interns are able to contribute to everything that helps the museum run smoothly. Interns will work under the guidance and supervision of a DIA professional on a specific project with established learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current student in good standing at an ALA accredited graduate library and information science school.
  • Familiarity with scanning technologies and associated software programs
  • Ability to properly handle fragile materials
  • Familiarity with Adobe Bridge and Adobe Pro
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Proficiency in latest version of Office 365, including SharePoint, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel is required.
  • Ability to work onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with scanning archival records, including documents, photographs and ephemera.
  • Create associated metadata based on established standards.
  • Convert master archival scans to .pdfs for upload into digital asset management system.
  • Conduct rehousing of original archival materials after scanning where needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
