About The Position

This is a part-time temporary (0.8 FTE) position for a Dietitian at Southwood Care Centre, lasting until approximately October 1, 2027. The role involves providing quality care to Long-Term Care residents. Intercare is an accredited Alberta-based company providing health and life enrichment services in continuing care centers since 1992, focused on maintaining dignity, offering choice, and supporting growth. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and a graduate of an approved dietetic internship.
Registered Dietitian with current membership in the Canadian Dietetic Association and Alberta Registered Dietitians Association.
A minimum of three years' experience in Dietetics, preferably within a long-term care facility.
Ability to work independently.
Demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care and service for residents.
Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined.
Ability to function as an effective team member with other staff, residents, families, and the public.
Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the provision of food service programs based on the assessed needs of the current customer population, including nutritional assessments and care plans, therapeutic diets, nourishments, five-week cyclical menu planning, ethnic foods, nutritional counseling, and education programs.
Complete InterRAI MDS assessment elements as appropriate for the discipline. Participate in the review of triggered RAPS and development of the resident care plan consistent with the Collaborative Care Model. Document assessments, interventions, and evaluations/outcomes as required on the resident’s health care record.
Evaluates the services provided by the Food Services Department, including efficiency of meal service and delivery, and quality of food provided. Maintains an awareness of community resource/services and facilitates access to such services as required by facility customers. Functions as a consultant within all Intercare facilities as required.
Works with Education Services in planning, organizing, and implementing in-service education for Food Service staff. Participates in project teams, committees, and meetings as required and is responsible for reading minutes and memorandums provided to their team.

Performs all duties in accordance with the written policies and procedures of the Employer, the facility and the Therapeutic Services Department. Understand and adhere to all organizational health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the corporate Health and Safety policy. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains the work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Reports unsafe, hazardous working conditions and/or any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate person/department. Participate in required health and safety training and initiatives to maintain compliance and promote workplace safety. Understand and adheres to fire responsibilities as outlined in the Corporate Fire Response Manual.
