About The Position

The Clinical Dietitian (RD) coordinates and provides comprehensive clinical nutrition services across nursing home and healthcare settings. The RD delivers timely, evidence-based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to meet individualized nutrition needs, prevent malnutrition, and support resident- and patient-centered care. The RD collaborates with physicians, nurses, therapists, foodservice staff, and other members of the healthcare team to provide nutrition guidance and promote quality outcomes. In collaboration with the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the RD supports the efficient operation of clinical nutrition services, maintains policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and quality standards while delivering cost-effective, high-quality care.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Dietetics from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Registered Dietitian credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Current Licensed Dietitian credential in the State of Ohio.
• Provide indirect supervision, guidance, and support to diet clerks, tray passers, and Food & Nutrition Services employees as assigned.

Nice To Haves

• One year of clinical dietitian experience preferred; experience in geriatric clinical nutrition preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) using the Nutrition Care Process and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards to meet individualized patient and resident nutrition needs.
• Complete timely nutrition assessments, screenings, reassessments, care plans, MDS/CAA documentation, and other required clinical documentation.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate therapeutic diets, nutrition interventions, and individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, foodservice staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate and communicate nutrition care throughout the continuum of care.
• Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, residents, and families regarding therapeutic diets, nutrition principles, food selection, and lifestyle modifications.
• Review and assist with patient/resident menus, nutritional supplements, and therapeutic diets; inspect meals for compliance with prescribed diets and standards for quality, palatability, and presentation.
• Provide consultation, training, and in-service education to healthcare and Food & Nutrition Services staff on nutrition-related topics, therapeutic diets, and applicable policies and procedures.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition-related policies, procedures, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, and departmental goals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and communication while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulatory standards, and FCHC policies and procedures.
