The Dietitian Specialist 3 demonstrates expertise in completing inpatient and/or outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments. This role involves working collaboratively with the health care team to implement nutrition interventions and coordinate the nutrition care of patients. The specialist provides specialized nutrition education to patients and family members and works as a team with other dietitians, dietetic technicians, and diet aides to improve performance standards. Key responsibilities also include providing in-services/lectures to clinical staff, mentoring clinical dietitians and other health care team members, participating in educating dietetic and medical students, and serving as a consultant for physicians. Assigned duties may encompass inpatient, outpatient, and/or clinic settings, participation in out-patient group nutrition classes, and fulfilling appointments when referrals are received. The position also includes performing other duties as needed.
