About The Position

The Dietitian Specialist 3 responsibilities include completing inpatient and outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments for patients in specialty areas. Works collaboratively with health care team members to implement nutrition interventions, and coordinates the nutrition care of the patient. Provides specialized nutrition education to patients/family members in individual and/or group setting, arranging for outpatient referral to specialty clinic if necessary. Attends and participates in patient care meetings, team meetings, and quality meetings as assigned. Provides in-services and lectures to clinical staff, and mentors clinical dietitians and other health care team members to improve performance standards, participates in educating dietetic and medical students and serves as a consultant for interns, residents, fellows and attending physicians. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Nutrition-related field required.
  • Three years of clinical nutrition experience required.
  • A thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition in area of specialty.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality.
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.

  • Certification from Commission on Dietetic registration (RD/RDN) required.
  • Board Certified Specialty certification required within one year of hire or transfer, for outpatient clinic positions only.
