About The Position

As the NICU Clinical Dietician , you will function within the multidisciplinary team to provide nutritional care for all infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This includes nutrition assessment and intervention, education of staff and families, development of policies and procedures, participation in data collection projects and service as a consultant to the entire healthcare team.

Requirements

1 - 3 years clinical experience in neonatal nutrition
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with the completion of Didactic internship or coordinated program as approved by the Accreditation Council for Educa tion in Nutrition and Dietetics
Re gistered Dietitian (R.D.) credential or elig ible with the Com mission on Dietetic Registration
Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians withi n 90 days of initial employment

Nice To Haves

Specialty certification as a Certified Nu trition Support Dietitian (CNSD)
Current Serv Safe Food Handler Permit, Travis County Health Department Food Handler Card or State Food Safety permit

Responsibilities

Assess patient nutritional needs
Interpret, negotiate, calculate and execute physician order for modified diets
Develop and implement nutrition care plans
Provide written and verbal education to patients and families on nutritional needs as ordered by MD or other members of the hospital staff on individual basis or in classes
Record and document appropriate information in Meditech and in patient medical records
Monitor patient response to medical nutrition therapy in the NICU and adjusts nutritional intervention as needed based on monitoring parameters
Develop and implement standards of care for the NICU to ensure provision of optimal nutrition care
Communicate and cooperate with all hospital personnel to achieve the overall objectives of the Food Service Department
