About The Position

The Dietitian/Diabetic Educator provides evidence-based medical nutrition therapy, diabetes self-management education, and individualized nutrition counseling to inpatient and outpatient populations. Responsibilities include conducting nutrition assessments, developing care plans, educating patients, families, and healthcare staff, and collaborating with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to improve patient outcomes.

This position partners with the Director of Clinical Support Services to support the overall operation of Nutritional Service, including assisting with the oversight of kitchen operations, kitchen inventory, regulatory compliance, food service quality, and nutrition standards. The Dietitian/Diabetic Educator maintains an outpatient clinic schedule to provide nutrition services for diabetes, weight management, malnutrition, chronic disease prevention, and other nutrition-related conditions. The Dietitian/Diabetes Educator also works with the primary care network and community partners to expand outpatient nutrition services and develop programs that meet community needs.

Requirements

• Bachelors required/Master Degree (if obtained after 1/1/24) in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition or a related field, required.
• Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Ability to work individually and in a team setting
• Self-directed and has ability to prioritize
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language
• Excellent customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years hospital related clinical nutrition experience, preferred.
• Experience providing outpatient services to patients in an office setting, preferred.
• Experience in a supervisory capacity, preferred.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential preferred, or willingness to obtain when eligible.
• Current knowledge of diabetes self-management education and support, medical nutrition therapy, cardiometabolic disease prevention, and chronic disease management preferred.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, providers and other support personnel.
• Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested.
• Ability to influence the direction of Nutritional Services by maintaining a positive perspective and attitude.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful situation while maintaining composure and excellence in the delivery of services.
• Ability to promote and adapt to change.
• Ability to apply the principles of excellence and quality services in the Nutritional Services department.
