About The Position
Pacific Grove Hospital in Riverside, California, is a private, 68-bed acute psychiatric facility offering inpatient and outpatient behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment. The hospital is part of Acadia Healthcare. The Dietician serves as an expert in using food and nutrition to promote health and manage disease. This position is on an as-needed (PRN) basis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a similar field acceptable for licensure.
- Current registered dietitian credential, registration as required by the state, or eligibility for state endorsement.
- ServSafe certification or similar food safety certification where required by the state or facility.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with eating disorders and substance use, strongly preferred in facilities serving those patient populations.
Responsibilities
- Assess nutritional needs, dietary restrictions, and current health plans; develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
- Approve patient menus and nutritional supplements.
- Advise patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and modifications, and food selection and preparation.
- Provide nutritional assessments in accordance with facility policy and regulations.
- Review and approve facility-developed menus.
- Counsel individuals and groups on good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring.
- Consult with physicians and healthcare personnel to determine patients’ nutritional needs and dietary restrictions.
- Participate in treatment teams as appropriate.
- Review and approve the facility diet manual annually in conjunction with medical staff.
- Speak to groups about diet, nutrition, and the role of good eating habits in preventing or managing specific diseases.
- Monitor food service operations as needed to ensure compliance with nutritional, safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
