Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders. Florida State Hospital (FSH) is a mental health treatment facility owned and operated by the State of Florida and is part of the Department of Children and Families. The department’s mission is to “work in partnership with local communities to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency.” FLORIDA STATE HOSPITAL IS A TOBACCO FREE FACILITY.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to walk and stand for a minimum period of 1 ½ hours at one time.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal to review, post and extract dietary data, including all diet orders, following appropriate guidelines.
  • Ability to transcribe data pertaining to diet/snack order, resident transfers, admission and discharges. Post information on computers and menus.

Responsibilities

  • Compile information pertinent to residents' individual needs and adjust or alter menus in accordance with established procedures, using MealSuite software program.
  • Correct patient menus for dietary restrictions, likes, dislikes, allergies and meal patterns.
  • Operate computer terminal to review, post and extract dietary data, including all diet orders, following appropriate guidelines.
  • Classify menu accordingly. This consists of approximately 1400 residents serving three meals per day.
  • Does Total Quality Management Monitoring. Monitoring meals twice weekly, which consist of taking temperature of food in kitchen and in unit on two wards put in surveying resident on service, quality and quantity.
  • Transcribe data pertaining to diet/snack order, resident transfers, admission and discharges. Post information on MealSuite and menus.
  • Maintain liaison with residential units to assure continuity of service of residents and maintain open communication with Providers and Dietitians.
  • Receive and post requests for late or early meal trays and missing trays.
  • While on duty, follows and carries out Florida State Hospital and department safety practices and policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
