About The Position

Coordinates and provides individualized patient care with the storage, preparation, and packaging of breast milk and formulas in the Infant Nourishment Room. Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards. Generates labels, measures milk/formula, calculates additives and fills feeding orders for 24 hour period, according to physician order. Adheres to all sanitary regulations and standards per policy. Responsible for safe and effective operation of equipment needed to prepare infant milk mixtures. Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas. Communicates effectively with other care providers to provide continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the patients. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste,(of time and supplies) and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care. Responds to management, nursing, and patient requests appropriately. Attends in-service educations and other required hospital training as directed. Accurately maintains all documentation for the Infant Nourishment Room i.e. temperature logs, expired products, etc. Completes additional duties potentially including data collection, HealthTouch operations, patient satisfaction initiatives (i.e. patient rounds, test trays, etc), and assisting registered dietitians.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) credential preferred.
