About The Position
This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus. The role will be for a Milk Tech, responsible for mixing all human milk in the milk room for formula recipes. This requires critical attention to detail with minimal error rates, as the nutrition will be consumed. The individual must be comfortable working independently and possess basic math skills. The Dietetic Tech performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to patient’s nutritional care, such as entering dietary data into the computer, maintaining accurate patient profiles, and obtaining patient food preferences. Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- 1 to 2 years in a Healthcare Food Service setting
- ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
Nice To Haves
- Associates Degree in Dietetic Technician or at least 2 years of college education in Nutrition and Dietetics
- 3 to 5 years in Healthcare Food Service setting
- Computer experience
- Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association as a Dietetic Technician, Registered.
Responsibilities
- Mixing all the human milk in milk room for formula recipes.
- Critical attention to detail with minimal error rates as this will be a consumed nutrition.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Basic math skills.
- Examines diet orders and menus received from hospital units and prepare production sheets of a specific food to be prepared for the kitchen staff.
- Calls patient to assist/receive menu selection.
- Processes new diet orders and changes to the patient diet order as required.
- Generates and edits patient tray tickets and if necessary, enters the date into the computer.
- Modifies diets following standards established by the Registered Dietitian.
- Interview patients and/or caregivers to obtain food preferences if necessary.
- Answers telephone calls and relays information concerning meal changes, complaints, or patient discharges to the Supervisor or Registered Dietitians.
- Works, tray line/tray accuracy as required for timely and accurate patient services as needed.
