About The Position
UW Medicine-Harborview- Food and Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, Dietary Unit Clerk. The Nutrition and Food Services department supports Harborview's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community. Our vision is to create a supportive and empowering workplace for all, provide unparalleled experiences for our customers and patients, and improve the quality of life and health of the public. This position processes all patient menus, including those for the tray line and room service program. It coordinates food production according to established menus, answers telephone calls from patients and clinical staff, and prepares records and reports.
Requirements
- Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
- High school graduation or GED
- One year of experience as a Dietary Unit Aide in a health care facility or equivalent.
- One year of additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
Responsibilities
- Presents and instructs patients and families on the use of the menu and meal ordering process
- Evaluates patients’ ability to participate in the Room Service Program and determines if intervention is needed.
- Asks patients for food allergies or aversions.
- Documents pertinent patient information.
- Delivers meals to patients.
- Inventory and deliver floor pantry supply.
- Maintain cleanliness of pantries and other areas.
