At Optalis Health & Rehabilitation of Whitehall, we're looking for an energetic, passionate, and organized Dietary Manager to lead our culinary team and help deliver exceptional dining experiences to our residents. Department: Dietary Location: Facility Level- Optalis Health& Rehabilitation Reports to: Nursing Home Administrator FLSA Status: Salary Exempt Position Summary: The Director of Food Service provides nourishing, palatable, well-balanced meals that meet the nutritional and special dietary needs of each resident according to their comprehensive assessment and care plan. Responsibilities include supervising staff in preparing attractive, nutritionally adequate meals served at proper temperatures and times, in accordance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and accepted nutritional standards. The role also includes ensuring proper care and sanitation of food service equipment and work areas. In collaboration with the dietician, the Food Service Director allocates department resources efficiently to ensure each resident receives food in the appropriate amount, type, consistency, and frequency to maintain usual body weight and nutritional status.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion or current enrollment in a course approved by the American Dietetic Association
  • CDM certification
  • ServSafe certification
  • One year of institutional food service experience, including planning, preparing, and serving regular and therapeutic diets in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to apply current knowledge, good judgment, and common sense
  • Strong prioritization and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective communication with residents, staff, families, interdisciplinary team members, state surveyors, ombudsmen, and other officials

  • Supervisory experience preferred
