Follow detailed recipes to prepare tasty, nutritious meals for patients, including 'special diets' tailored with help from our Registered Dietitian. Keep the kitchen clean and safe, following strict IDPH food safety rules to protect everyone. Pitch in wherever needed — from stocking the freezer to chatting with patients about their meals or helping to serve meals. Work as part of a fast-moving team that wears many hats every day.

Requirements

  • Current (ServSafe) Food Handler Certificate Required
  • Current Sanitation Certificate (CFPM) Required
  • Basic knowledge of computer-based documentation systems
  • Understanding of good food preparation, serving techniques, and food safety and sanitation rules
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to regularly stand for lengthy periods of time, push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds, and pass a pre-employment physical and background check

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Cook/Chef in a healthcare facility or commercial/central kitchen (strongly preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
