About The Position
Vasona Creek Healthcare Center is a premier 148-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility nestled in the beautiful foothills of Los Gatos. We provide 24/7 skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care in a warm, home-like environment. Our culinary team is dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents by providing nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet their specific medical and dietary needs. At Vasona Creek, we pride ourselves on a culture of professionalism, attentive care, and a supportive team environment. We are seeking a reliable and skilled Cook to join our dietary department for the PM shift. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals that are both appetizing and compliant with prescribed therapeutic diet orders. This role is essential in promoting the health and well-being of our residents through an enjoyable dining experience.
Requirements
- Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, hospital, or long-term care facility is highly preferred.
- Valid ServSafe or California Food Handler's certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Basic understanding of modified diets, portion control, and food safety sanitation.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes, manage time in a fast-paced environment, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks required in a commercial kitchen setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes.
- Accurately prepare food for therapeutic and modified diets, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified (pureed) options.
- Maintain 100% compliance with local, state, and federal sanitation and infection control standards.
- Monitor and record food temperatures, label and rotate inventory, and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
- Ensure food quality and presentation meet facility standards while interacting positively with residents and guests.
- Collaborate with the Dietary Director and nursing staff to ensure appropriate nutrition for every resident.
