Under the supervision of the Cook/Shift Supervisor, this role is responsible for preparing vegetables, salads, potatoes, meats, and desserts, ensuring quality meals for individuals served. This includes preparing meals according to count to avoid overproduction, assisting with food delivery to clients, and preparing evening meals and snacks. The role also involves preparing all prescribed diets according to the Diet Manual and specific dietary needs as directed by the Supervisor. Quality control includes tasting food, evaluating its appearance, and taking regular food temperature readings. Responsibilities also extend to maintaining kitchen cleanliness, including washing pots and pans, sweeping, and mopping. Additionally, this position may involve training new dietary employees, adhering to a strict dress code policy, and intervening in human rights issues on behalf of individuals served, reporting to appropriate agencies and supervisors. Other duties include dishing up food, reviewing dietary concerns with supervisors, making vendor trips for supplies, inspecting homes for proper portion control, and maintaining strict confidentiality. The role requires adherence to work schedule, health, safety, and sanitation standards, and the ability to work extra hours and weekends as needed.
