Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame.
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, ovens, grills, fryers, kettles, and food processors.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Works independently with attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and basic culinary mathematics.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position within a long-term care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality meals for residents, staff, and visitors in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, and food safety standards.
  • Ensuring all food is prepared and presented to meet quality standards for taste, texture, appearance, and temperature, while adhering to sanitation and infection control guidelines.
  • Supporting the nutritional well-being and satisfaction of residents through safe, efficient, and compassionate food service.
  • Preparing and portioning food items according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
  • Maintaining proper labeling, storage, and handling of all food products.
  • Performing cleaning and sanitation duties to ensure a safe and organized kitchen environment.
  • Accurately documenting temperatures and food safety measures to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Operating a variety of kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, ovens, grills, fryers, kettles, and food processors.
