About The Position

MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a Dietary Assistant to join their team. This role involves assisting in providing high-quality food service to meet the nutritional needs of patients and residents of all age groups. Responsibilities include assembling and delivering food trays, working in the dish room, performing cleaning duties, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. The position requires flexibility, positive communication, and adherence to professional behavior and confidentiality standards. The Dietary Assistant will also be responsible for setting up stations, preparing menu items accurately, using cleaning chemicals appropriately, and cleaning equipment and dishware according to procedures.

Requirements

Ability to read, speak and follow simple oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform simple calculations.
Manual dexterity and motor coordination required to operate foodservice equipment, dish machine, pot/pan machine and serve foods on trayline and/or in Senior Care.
Effective communication skills.
Maintain a cordial and courteous attitude in contacts with co-workers, MercyOne staff, patients/residents and guests.
Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (i.e. HIPAA, etc.).

Nice To Haves

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in the assembling and delivery of food trays/meals for patients/residents.
Work in the dish room and perform a variety of cleaning related duties.
Prepare patient/resident trays/meals by setting up stations and preparing menu items according to guidelines and serving accurately.
Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for foodservice and cleaning of equipment.
Use appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing.
Responsible for cleanup of station, preparing dishes and utensils for washing, and properly storing dishes and utensils after washing.
Clean dish machine and/or pots and pans area per procedure.
