About The Position

Parkside, a DePaul Community Residence-Single Room Occupancy (CR-SRO) Program, is hiring a part-time Dietary Assistant. Under the direction of the Dietary Director and Cook, the Dietary Assistant ensures that dietary department functions are completed in a timely and effective manner. This is a 16-hour part-time position paying $21.00–$21.30 per hour.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Experience in high-volume food service is desirable.

Responsibilities

Listen and respond promptly and courteously to residents’ requests, meeting their needs and providing a positive dining experience in accordance with the respect policy.
Handle food, dishes, and utensils according to agency standards and health and safety regulations, including sanitizing dining room service ware, trays, and carts.
Keep work and storage areas neat and sanitary.
Dispose of waste properly and maintain sanitary waste receptacles, dumpster areas, and department trash cans.
Sweep and mop work areas and the dining room.
Wash dishes and clean pots, pans, trays, and other kitchen dishware.
Set up and break down hot and cold tables before and after each meal.
Ensure food utensils are readily available for each meal.
Keep service areas clean, including hot, cold, beverage, and dishwashing stations.
Assist cooks with preparing and serving meals and desserts.
Secure dietary items and prevent their loss to staff, residents, or the public.
Follow food safety protocols when storing and disposing of leftover food.
Participate in staff meetings and in-services.
Follow safety rules and regulations for self, residents, and staff, and wear attire suitable and safe for the position.
Perform other duties necessary for effective program operation.
