About The Position

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service. Assists residents when placing orders from the menu, provides beverage service, and refills salt/pepper/sugar bowls. Reports any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor. Understands sit-down service and proper serving techniques, and has a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.) and proper food storage and labeling techniques. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming the kitchen and dining room. Attends required in-services and staff meetings and completes all other duties assigned. Must be attentive to special needs of residents including mobility deficits and memory impairment. Assists with tray service and follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information. Interacts in a polite and considerate manner to residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
  • Must possess the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
  • Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Serve resident and guest meals courteously.
  • Clean and reset the dining room after meal service.
  • Assist residents with menu orders.
  • Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee/tea).
  • Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls before and after each meal.
  • Report broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
  • Understand and apply sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.).
  • Apply knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.
